Benjamin Netanyahu, head of the Israeli government, begun close to the European Parliament's president his search for a "moral majority" against the declaration of Palestinian State by the UN General Assembly. Netanyahu has one certainty: the democratic majority at the UN General Assembly may approve next Fall the creation of a Palestinian State once Israel and the US prevent the negotiation process to work. Faced with this reality, Netanyahu begun, in a meeting with Jerzy Buzek, Polish conservative MEP currently president of the European Parliament, a set of contacts to find "between 30 to 50 countries that say no to the unilateral recognition of the Palestinian State" in the majority if countries in the UN. According to the head of the Israeli government, this minority group will be a "moral majority". Benjamin Netanyahu considers that if "the Palestinians obtain the recognition they will have difficulties in accepting, through negotiations, the indispensable compromises to conclude peace with Israel". The Israeli government, with the support of US mediators, have been avoiding the peace negotiations conclusion, imposing unacceptable conditions for the Palestinian side, namely pursuing the occupied territories colonization, including East Jerusalem, and refusing to accept, even against the opinion of the US president, the 1967 lines as decided in the UN resolutions. Besides rejecting the UN resolutions, the Israeli government prepares to ignore the majorities that might come to exist in this institution. Netanyahu formalized to Buzek his "truth" over what must be the solution: "Peace does not mean Israel renounces its parts in the land but that Palestinians renounce their will to destroy Israel". The "parts" mentioned by the Israeli head of government are East Jerusalem and other territories occupied since 1967 and that Israeli troops should already have abandoned in accordance with several UN resolution. A head of the Israeli government delegation quoted by international agencies considers that "Israel is victim of automatic majorities in the UN General Assembly and multiplies it efforts so that a larger number of democratic countries oppose the unilateral initiatives towards the recognition of the Palestinian State". The president of European Parliament, visiting Israel, calls the Israeli prime minister to resume the direct negotiations with Palestinians.
